Project summary: MAPA project is aimed at strengthening the status of the protected parts of the Program area at three locations - the area of Silba and Silba Reefs (CRO) and Parco conero and Foce Trigno (IT), which together will bear the name Marine Adriatic PArks (MAPA). Capacity-building and awareness-raising activities conducted through joint workshops and trainings will encourage active citizenship and make them ambassadors of MAPA. The establishment of Local Cooperation Councils (LCCs) promotes the preservation of biodiversity. The promotion of pescatourism as an economic activity that has a minimal negative impact on the environment will be organized through a pilot action of equipping target groups. Project partners will establish a joint interactive MAPA platform to assess the status of marine habitats and species and involve local communities in conducting monitoring activities.
